Knowledge is Only a Blunt Instrument

April 4th, 2009 · No Comments

Einstein believed that “knowledge is only a blunt instrument without the wisdom/spirit behind it”.  I tend to reasonate with that thought.  How many times have I been hit over the head with facts that were skewed and biased?  How many times have I wanted to believe something and didn’t have all the information I needed?

There is a space where both knowledge and wisdom can come together in alignment.  Want to know how that works?

The Ascension Process

March 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

Each of us is in the process of change.  Some of us resist and others gravitate towards the change.  For some change is a challenge and for some change is simply ‘inevitable’.    A different lingo has cropped up all over the place lately, i.e. “the ascension process’.

At first I thought it must refer to  christianity’s version of the ‘end of the world.’  And then I saw the term other places such as Boulding’s developmental process, and even the idea of climbing the ladder to success.

According to Mayan, Incan and other indigenous cultures, a 26,000 year cycle is ending, and more importantly, a new cycle is rebirthing itself on the planet.  I can reasonate with that.  It does feel like the entire world is in a realignment process that could be like birth itself.

El Nunca la Hora: the time is now

March 18th, 2009 · No Comments

Don Americo Yabar from Peru and one of my mentors has been saying for years that THE TIME IS NOW. Those words have been through a journey of meanings to me since the early 90s.

At first I believed something profound was about to happen in living color, and it has…… At one point I went into a waiting mode to see something happen and then I’d believe it. What I have come to realize is that the present moment is the most valuable jewel we will ever possess?

OrgDyne has re-opened a world I almost left behind. Let me explain. My work as an OD consultant/coach began in the late 80s. Windows and doors flew open at every turn. My path led me to work with companies such as Yorkshire Water in northern England, laboratories in Port Sunlight and in Cincinnati, a group of executives in a castle outside of Edinborough. Even the travel stateside became laborious. But when I returned home from London on the day before 9-11, I made a decision to let go of the travel. I wanted to be close to home……..

My work changed. I began to leverage technology and I flourished .But I couldn’t keep up.

Again, the windows are opening to connect, collaborate and co-create with peers who are willing to serve organizations and companies who want to thrive in times of uncertainty.
Using the technological tools that are in place for us, I want to proclaim to the world that, yes, the time is NOW and I am open to new and renewed relationships.

Are you and your organization, team, community or small group ready?

Skills required in times of change

March 8th, 2009 · 1 Comment

It’s obvious to see what’s not working in today’s world. The negative, heavy stuff is in our faces at every turn. That’s not what bothers me. It is more important to me that we as individuals and communities start a conversation about how we can better manage, shape and instigate the changes we want to see. Put our attention where it matters.

What I want to see and experience with others is to explore what skills are required for the future so we can start reshaping our way to a better working environment, quality of life and begin to make sense of what we truly want to create together.

My background and training gave me 2 skills that are coming in handily right now. The first is that I have a high tolerance for ambiguity. That means I can navigate daily without having the answers lined up in front of me. The second skill is that I’ve developed a higher competency in letting the answers and solutions come forth from the stillness inside myself instead of from the external world of noise and babble.

What are you noticing in today’s fast-paced, complex world that you want to find out about yourself?

Leading and Living in Times of Uncertainty

March 4th, 2009 · No Comments

Here we are in the middle of change beyond our wildest imaginations. Many people are stunned and stumped by what to do in these ‘out-of-control’ times. Some of us want to run away to another place hoping it will be different. Others of us yearn to get back to times when things were ‘normal’ as we used to know them. Very few of us are comfortable living and working without a map of where and how we will move forward.

Since the early ’90s I’ve been exploring this ideas of ‘uncertainty’ with executives and organizations around the globe. What I’ve learned is that to be skillful in this fast-paced environment is to turn inward to find our intuitive wisdom and take that knowing outside to be shared with others. Not always an easy task to ‘take our eyes off the external’. It’s an embedded habit to look outward and attempt to fix what we see is not working. Let’s begin a dialogue about using our inner eye to navigate our way forward.

Language of change

February 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

Listening to conversations around me, I hear two sides of the same coin. One side is language about fear, scarcity, holding back, holding on, and waiting. The other side of the coin is language that is open ended, hopeful, explorative, anticipatory, and expansive.

Join me on Monday, to hear the internet radio show, Reading the Waters of Change. It’s talk radio about how can we shape and navigate our way through chaotic waters by crafting our language. Find us at www.co-creatornetwork.com/readingthewatersofchange. Every Monday focuses on a different topic about change.

Stimulus—what motivates you to be enlivened?

February 19th, 2009 · No Comments

With all the talk about the Stimulus package, I want to take it to a deeper level by exploring what motivates me from the inside out. Sitting outside on my porch listening to the birds, watching the cats frolic, having a cup of tea……… My senses are stimulated. I feel joy in my heart. Hummmmm, it really doesn’t take much.

I had a lively time last week going to 2nd buy shoppes to look for something elegant to wear to an upcoming black tie event. It was fun to see what other women had worn to lavish affaires. And, I came home and picked something from my own closet. Hummmmmmmmm.

and you?
